Crackdown for the Xbox 360 - Final Review

by Mike on March 5, 2007

If you read my early review of Crackdown, then you’d know that I my overall impression of the game at the time was very favorable. Well I’ve now beaten the game on the easiest level and still feel the same way! While the opponents/bosses did get “slightly” more difficult, they were still easy overall and posed no real challenge at the end of the day. That said, it didn’t really matter to me honestly since I was having so much fun just killing huge amounts of guys in varying ways. The point of this game it seems (at least to me) is not to “beat the game” but to have fun during the journey. It definitely succeeds in that area! I can’t even begin to tell you how many nights I’d spend hours just exploring the city, finding orbs, driving around doing races, or just climbing buildings for the hell of it. Granted most of those activities do nothing to advance the game but they’re so fun you don’t really care. Now that I’ve gone through the game once I’m sure I’ll spend even more time doing this sort of thing now until I’m ready to try going through on the next difficult level… which could be weeks at this point. LOL Yep, it’s that much fun folks!

That said, I can definitely recommend that you buy Crackdown if you like good old-fashioned fun gaming that doesn’t require a lot of thought or planning. If you like a great story, deep gameplay, or challenging puzzles/situations don’t bother buying it… you’ll be disappointed. If you like blowing stuff up, kicking a car and watching it fly 150 ft. backwards, or running around a city on rooftops then stop on the way home tonight and pick it up!
