Paramount switches to HD DVD

Today Paramount announced it’s support of the HD DVD format instead of supporting both HD DVD and Blu-ray (with the exception of any Steven Spielberg film). This is a huge win for HD DVD in my opinion! As a supporter of HD DVD, I’m happy to hear that I’ll be able to purchase the new Transformers movie for my Xbox 360 HD DVD player. Paramount stated that their reason for the change was due to the cheaper hardware cost of HD DVD players. Hopefully other movie studios will notice this as well and begin to throw more support towards the HD DVD format. If nothing else, maybe this will cause Blockbuster to re-evaluate their lack of support for the format and bring back HD DVD movies to their stores.
